Battle of the Books
Congratualtions to our 3rd and 4th Grade Battle of the Books team for their 2nd place finish. They have worked hard this school year preparing for the district Battle of the Books competition. We are proud of them!
Important Information for Incoming 6th Graders
For the 2025-2026 school year, 5th graders going into 6th grade will now be attending middle school with 7th and 8th grade.

The Dr. Gene Burton College & Career Academy Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Interior Design and Architecture competition team recently traveled to Waco, Texas, to attend the regional competition.

Walk the Line won first place this weekend at the International Championship for High School A Cappella (ICHSA). It is one of seven schools competing at the ICHSA finals in NYC this April. This is its fourth trip to the finals since 2016!

The Dr. Gene Burton College and Career Academy’s Education and Training FCCLA chapter has achieved an incredible milestone at the recent regional competition, with all nine student competitors advancing to the state competition.

Eight Dr. Gene Burton College and Career Academy fashion design students placed in the Top 5 at the Technology Student Association (TSA) Fashion Design competition, including three who have advanced to the state competition.

The Rockwall ISD Communications Team took home 18 state awards, including two “Best of Category” distinctions at the annual Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) conference on Feb. 20 in San Antonio.

Rockwall ISD is proud to recognize two students who have been named finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), Angela S. Williams from Rockwall High School and Savannah B. Crocker from Rockwall-Heath High School.

The Rockwall Independent School District is pleased to announce the 2025 Teacher of the Year nominees. Twenty-five teachers, one representing each campus, were selected by their peers and colleagues for the honor.

Kristie Hudspeth, Assistant Principal of Pullen Elementary in Rockwall ISD, has been named the 2025 Region 10 AP of the Year by the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA). The peer-based award celebrates assistant principals from the 20 TEPSA Regions across the state who demonstrate exceptional leadership in fostering a culture of excellence for students and teachers on their PK-8 campus.
